Vita Temporary Material
May 11, 2010
Just got off the phone with the folks from B&D, and it looks like we will be able to offer CAD/CAM Temps using Vita’s PMMA Shaded Temporary Material in the very near future.
The hitch has been the material comes packaged in a puck with a thickness of 20mm, and we’ve been waiting for a tool strategy that will work reliably under such circumstances.
What’s the first thing I going to do? Design and mill a Titanium framework with lingual retainers on the abutment teeth. Then, we’ll rescan the framework in place on the model, and use adequate spacer to allow for application of an acrylic opaquer. Finally, we’ll design and mill the PMMA Temps and bond them to the framework.
The result should be a strong, long-term temporary prosthesis. Pictures to follow…
