Response from 3Shape…
June 3, 2010
You have to like a company the responds to your issues. Received this email from Tais Clausen of 3Shape last night regarding my issue with grouping abutments -
Hey Jeff,
Hope all is well by you?. About your issue getting the software to select the correct platform in the order form, I tried to do a similar order on my 2009 DentalSystem installation and was not able to replicate the problem directly, however it is very important to first select the implant kit and platform type (for all your abutments) before grouping them!.
Further, when selecting the kit it is important that you make sure that you have only selected the teeth (look for the red silhouette) for which you would like a particular abutment kit and platform type. When all abutments have been assigned the correct kit and platform, you can go ahead select all the items and create a group. Also in general, especially on the more complicated cases, we suggest that you check each tooth item have been assigned correctly. If you need to change kit and platform after grouping them, this is also possible, however be very careful only to select (red silhouette) the teeth for which you want a particular kit and platform.
It could probably have been designed in a more elegant and intuitive way, sorry for the inconvenience!
Best regards,
Tais Clausen

Being that Tais is one of the co-founder’s of 3Shape, for him to take the time to personally address my problem tells me this is one company that takes customer satisfaction seriously! The rest of the industry is going to be playing catch-up for a long time…
