- JEFF SAYLORS
- I am the owner/operator of Saylors Dental Laboratory in Manassas, Va – a 77-year-old family business serving primarily the greater Washington, DC Metro Area. I graduated from Virginia Tech (BS-Finance) in 1983, and joined SDL in 1984. My initial aspirations were in the marketing and management of the company. However, as is the case in many small businesses, I was asked to wear many hats, and soon discovered I had a talent for Ceramics. I have studied with technicians from all over the world including Lee Culp, Asami Tanaka, Peter Pizzi, Kris Kirsten and Jurgen Seger. I earned an LVI Master Dental Technician Certificate in 2006. In recent years I have increasingly turned my attention to CAD/CAM systems for the dental laboratory. I believe my abilities as a ceramist and my experience with a wide variety of CAD/CAM system makes me uniquely qualified to write on subjects related the digital dental laboratory.
Navigation Tips
If you’re reading this, you’ve already mastered the toolbar. Allow me to provide a little insight into my thoughts as I developed the blogsite.
The Fee Schedules Click here to find a link to our most up-to-date fee schedule, as well as important information regarding scheduling and lab policies.
The Web Specials button will take you to a page detailing our monthly special. The idea behind the Web Special is to incentivize clients to return to the blog more often. To take advantage of the Web Special savings, you’ll need to print the page and remit it with your case. There is no limit to the number of times you can take advantage of a Web Special during a given month. Keep in mind – A special ends on the last day of the month, and the case must be in the lab by close-of-business that day to receive the savings – no exceptions.
The RX Forms button takes you to a downloadable, printable version of our prescription form. Occasionally a new client will want to remit a case to us, but not possess the hardcopy of the Rx form. Now, we can direct them to the blogsite to get the necessary form until such time as we can supply them with our carbonless Rx.
We also added a Contacts button that provides easy access to our address, phone numbers as well as email addresses of key people at the lab, plus a special email address to be used to send case information and photos.
On the sidebar, the What I said recently… widget displays only the last three posts.
The Post Topics widget is a drop down menu that displays key words and phrases under which past posts have been categorized. Simply click on a Category, and the blog page will display all related posts.
The What You Missed… widget is another drop down menu that archives the posts by month. Click on a month and the blog page displays all posts made during that month.
The BlogRoll widget displays links to other blogs that I have found of interest. Click on a link to see if you also find these folks interesting. And, if there’s a blog you think I might find interesting, please email me the link, and I might display it here.
Advertisements – I don’t like the cluttered appearance of some websites featuring Google Ads. Instead, I chose to display advertisements from select companies – businesses which we think will be of interest to our clientele, and have excellent reputations for customer support. Please feel free to click on the ads to go directly to the websites of our sponsors. Just don’t forget to come back!
Below the ads, you’ll see a widget that tracks the daily price of gold and other precious metals – just a simple reminder that alloy ain’t cheap, and there are alternatives available.
Lastly, if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the blog, we’ve added a Google Maps widget displaying our location. If you click on the pin, you can access driving directions from your location to ours – an excellent tool to help you and your patients who may need visit our facility.
